Abstract

The objective of the research is to identify the difficulties in eight grade students in the treatment and conversion of rational numbers, with the textual, fractional and graphic semiotic systems. The study was carried out with 27 students of three educational institutions. One of the main conclusions reached, deals with the students’ difficulty to represent the object of study in different ways (fractional, graph and textual).
