Abstract
This article presents a reflection upon the current object of the history of education through a solid support to a complex vision of what is understood by “educative phenomenon”. Subsequently, the way in which the history of education can be considered a historical science as well as a social science and educational science, being this last aspect the most polemical, is also introduced. Finally, a brief review through the historiography of the history of education is carried out in order to reach a synthesis of the current trends in said field.
