Abstract

This article analyzes Jean Piaget’s Maximizing Equilibration Mecanism, proposed in his Psychogenetic Theory, as the support of cognitive progress and adaptation. Firstly, it establishes the fundamental question of how and through what processes knowledge is developed. Secondly, it formulates and explains the principle, fragmenting it in stages for didactic purposes, and matching each stage with the corresponding biological dimension. After suggesting some possible applications for this mechanism, the article proposes its use in didactics.
