Abstract

Within the framework of a curriculum change process between 2005 and 2009 in the city of Buenos Aires I took part in a working team that had the opportunity to define and develop materials in order to support Geography teachers in the introduction of the new curricular proposals for High School. In the definition of these materials we brought into play some assumptions and conceptions related to the place we wanted to give to teachers. Besides, we pretended to satisfy some of the teacher’s demands, promote their professional development and benefit the production of teaching proposals aimed at Geography renewal in the school. In this article, I am interested in presenting the criteria and perspectives that guided the definition and production of the curricular materials and also the assessment of five Geography teachers with whom I carried out field work from which I was interested in knowing –among other things- how teachers chose and used the materials as well as how they validated them as innovation and ongoing training tools.
