Representaciones sociales de género en el contexto educativo rural

Abstract

The article “Social representations of gender in the rural educational context” is derived from a final investigation report with the same title, which tried to uncover the meaning of those social representations in eleventh grade students and teachers at a Secondary School in a rural educational context. To accomplish the purpose stated, a methodological design that has as a guideline firstly to explore and at the same time to define the unit of work, then, to constitute a corpus associated with the application of the subjects mentioned, to respond to moral dilemmas especially developed for this purpose, and finally, with the mediation of structural semantic analysis of content to make transit from naive understandings to deep understandings of the phenomenon, was applied. As a main result, a marked hierarchy in the malefemale relations in the rural context was observed in the applications. relationships in which the category “man” is associated with dominance, control and higher power in the rural educational context. Also, the fact that in the findings it is claimed that, on one hand too much solidarity related to the free development of personality and at the same time, too many blurred conditions to make of this a reality, is emphasized.
