Abstract
In this paper a route through different styles of research and pedagogy is done which have been carried out in the Master’s of Education at the Pedagogy Institute from, Universidad del Valle. These elements are part of a sample used in the research project: Research regions in education and pedagogy in Colombia: Building a research activity map in the period 2000-2010, which pretends to map the knowledge regions in education and pedagogy in the Education Master’s Programs in the country. The methodological approach used to carry out the research was the complementarity approach, (Murcia and Jaramillo, 2008) which had three stages, in which various gathering and information processing methods were used.. These moments were: development of a general file, an archaeological moment and an understanding moment. Sixty theses were analyzed using the following aspects as understanding methods: Information sources, purposes, and investigative regions.
