The thinking variable was characterized taking into acoount the cognitive flexibility and the numerical, verbal, and abstract reasoning skills while creativity was characterized by means of a Creative Intelligence test. The sample selection was made considering at random statistical criteria, so that it was possible to work with a representative portion of the population under study. Sixty-five students were selected from the Chemistry and Biology program, the Social Studies, the Physical Education, the Modern Languages, the Philosophy, the Performing Arts and the Music programs. The research results allow an approximation to a description of the students in the aforementioned areas, and a better understanding of the cognitive peculiarities of these young people, which suggests the possible need for educational processes and teaching-learning environments in line with the detected characteristics.
