Abstract

Whenever we wish to reinforce a thing we naturalized it. In the case of the Lebanese in Mexico, it is their aureole of power, fame and money what society naturalizes. The perception on behalf of the Mexican society with respect to the social elitism of the Lebanese shows a set of generic characteristics, where average terms do not appear (the poor or marginalized Lebanese). The Lebanese went, from their arrival to Mexico, to becoming an active agent of the construction of their identity. And although the familiar tropos about the Lebanese historically are constituted, such metadiscourses are transgressed through the emergent performative moments of daily life. The Lebanese, like any other subject, handle their identity based on the relational contexts. From anonymity to identity exhibition, everything is possible.
