Abstract

The growing number of data visualization devices in the online journalism world draws attention not only since the success of these devices in the current information agenda but the way they build a producer –user relation around a group of practical and symbolic issues. Taking into account that this relation has been studied in different scholar approaches, this paper aims to contribute to the study of the visual aspects through the analysis of the implicit representation of the user into the device. As follows the guidance operations of seeing are studied in a group of devices collected from an international contest with the purpose to find the prescriptive modes of seeing journalist information. Six visual modes are described alongside some cases that exemplify their features: (1) visualization of events, (2) visualization of hidden issues, (3) visualization of spaces, (4) visualization of narratives, (5) visualization of subjectivity and (6) visualization of convergences. Finally, some conclusions are presented and confronted with the results of others research works in the field.
