Abstract
Objective. This paper has the purpose to discuss the so-called method issue in the Marxist tradition. Most of the debate is based on the well-known text by Marx The Method of Political Economy. Methodology. The methodology used is the immanent criticism of the material examined. Results. The criticism developed in the article tries to show, first of all, that it is a serious mistake to suggest that Marx establishes the general lines of his method there. Secondly, and still more relevant, that with the exception of Lukács, the most influential interpretations cannot account for the ontological orientation of the Marxian text, precisely the fundamental dimension of its critique. Conclusion. These aspects constitute the results reached and the conclusions of the work.
