Abstract
On this occasion, the Eleuthera Magazine - Ibero-American Journal of Human and Social Development - is pleased to present 11 articles related to education, historical memory, social work, homoparental adoption, information policies, NGOs and human rights, among others.
In the first section, Human Development, Democracy and Citizenship, we present three articles. The first is entitled “Vital cost of discrimination in a group of young gays and lesbians in Costa Rica,” written by Adrián Calvo Ugalde. This document aims to analyze the relationship between social homo-lesbophobia and suicide in a group of young gays and lesbians in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Costa Rica. In turn, the author affirms that the relationship between social homo-lesbophobia and the suicidal gesture in the participating gay and lesbian people is mediated by a complex process of self-acceptance loaded with mandates, speeches and concrete experiences of stigmatization and discrimination social in the various spaces of socialization.
