Abstract
This paper accounts for the way in which liminality of the “ollas” in the city of Pereira has been configured, as these places, dedicated to the sale and consumption of illicit drugs, have implied a dual relation between legality and illegality: into the “olla” as a physical space, and in the “olla” as a network of relations involving the entire city. For this purpose, the text consists of three stages: first, reconstruction of the historical genesis of the illicit drug market in Pereira; second, the spatial characterization of the “olla”, from its location areas, agents and dynamics, and their transformations according to the changes in the national and local context; and, finally, an explanation of the types of relations between legality and illegality that shape liminality of the “ollas” and the relation that this has with the ineffectiveness of security policies against drug dealing and crime.
