Abstract
This essay presents a characterization of the contemporary Colombian society through the socio-cultural, political and subjective elements. The first, illustrates three socio-cultural realities true to Colombia: socio-cultural diversity, its conflictivity, and the modern social and political modernization context in which it is immersed. The political element exemplifies three realities in which are in order to fulfill their hopes and social aspirations: identity, reflectivity of social processes and the political action in itself, through participative democracy. The last element, acting as a trait of contemporary times assumes the risk and confidence of linking the collective processes and every day life of the communities as well as of the individuals in a changing society.
