Abstract

Objective and methodology. To characterize and analyze through surveys and semi-structured interviews with the typical user of parks in the city of Cali (through two the Villacolombia Park and the sugar cane mills Park). Results. Thanks to the individual perception of users, public policies that encourage even more residents of the city to use the parks as an option for their physical and mental health care can be adopted. Conclusion. This research concludes that the most transcendental factor of the parks for users lies in the social and political aspects this space represents which make the park a consolidation node of an alternative urban ethos that questions a lifestyle in the city characterized by a sedentary lifestyle, stress, apathy toward others, among other critical aspects.
