El descubrimiento del cuerpo en el descubrimiento de América

Abstract

This work presents some customs of native Colombians at the arrival of conquerors in order to identify some  elements of the body image they had in relation with the body representation brought by Spaniards, in such  a way that our argument pretends to show how the idea of body conquerors found in America in general,  and particularly in Colombia, wasn´t other than the transference of their own somatic conception to that of  our ancestors. This argument is defended in three stages: the body as an imitation of the Gods, the body as  an integrator element of nature, and the corporal intervention. This paper is derived from the research  project: “Colombian History of Corporeality” carried out at Universidad Autónoma de Manizales whose  objective was to interpret the evolution of corporeality (corporeal image) in the different periods of  Colombian history.
