Abstract
Robert Jaulin (1928-1996) visited the Department of Anthropology of the National University (Photo 1). He came from his journey through the Bari country and was looking for someone to support two purposes that he had with those friends of his: the study of their health conditions and the need to legalize their territory as a safeguard. At this meeting it was asked which volunteer wanted to go to the Catatumbo region in Norte de Santander. Being a native of that department, I was the only one who was interested in accepting the task and therefore I initiated the necessary procedures at the university to carry out the purposes set out by Robert.
