Abstract

ABSTRACT

The signature of North American Free trade Agreement (NAFTA) by Colombia shows the vulnerability of all sectors and actors in the country, especially in regions like Amazonian which represent such an immense, rich and diverse zone; as well as a forgotten and unknown one. The accord will not solve problems of deficient economy either will take out the endemic poverty of the country. Biopiracy will be increased also Fauna traffic, wood exploitation, mineral robbery, the loss of millenary cultures and certainly food safety will be affected as well as national sovereignty. That is why social movements of civil society united have to dare with negative consequences of the accord, on the other hand they can create the conditions to approve the goodness if they are so. In this text it is explored the manner how organized civil society, different forms of social mobilizations or social movements could resist this new form of neocolonialism from the north. The text is composed by three parts, first one show implications of neoliberal globalization, the second part show a brief sight of the Colombian Amazonian region by describing its mean problems and the third part makes a conceptual approximation of social movements and proposes how these ones could afford the challenge.
