Abstract

This article presents a contribution on the evaluation of the process of the valuation of environmental goods and natural resources and the crisis of the process in the light of the theories of the schools of economic thought, emphasizing in the end the need for the application of an interdisciplinary approach in such developments. Today there is a prevailing need to achieve new concepts, methodologies and applications on the problem of the valuation of environmental goods and natural resources, running through the approaches offered by economic theory in light of the philosophical contents on the objectivity of the valuation processes, that is, their own scientific viability and the characteristics and demands of measurement and valuation, assuming -a priority- that the economy, the environment and society cannot survive without needing each other and without complementing each other and reciprocally.

The environment establishes limits for the forms and levels of exploitation of resources, conditioning the process of valuation, accumulation and reproduction of capital. The concept of 'environment' resurfaces from its space of exclusion 'problematizing' its knowledge and gaining a strategic sense in the political process of suppressing the 'externalities of development' (the exploitation of nature, environmental degradation, social marginalization) which are effects not valued monetarily, which persist despite the purpose of 'greening' production processes, of 'capitalizing' nature and of producing interdisciplinary knowledge through holistic approaches. The author of the work assumes that the evaluation criteria are not absolute or perfectly finished, they are necessary in the processes of evaluation and use of environmental goods and natural resources and brings up a criterion exposed in the discussion of environmental issues in the sense that current methodologies should not be ultimately underestimated by certain schools of thought, taking into account the alternative of not having the tools or the minimum information that contributes to the economic analysis of environmental quality assessment and therefore , not having environmental management instruments either.
