Resumo
Los psicodélicos son un símbolo de la posmodernidad. El mayor interés por ellos en diferentes etapas de la historia de las sociedades modernas refleja valores antagónicos a los que llevaron a su prohibición. Mediante una revisión teórica, se establece una relación entre la construcción de los discursos sociales centrados en las potencialidades positivas de los psicodélicos y unos valores posmaterialistas vinculados al individualismo expresivo, en tanto que la construcción del discurso prohibicionista está asociada a una moral conservadora y a un individualismo materialista y pragmático. Las revoluciones psicodélicas que se manifiestan en la ciencia y en la sociedad se encuentran profundamente influidas por este cambio de valores.
