Abstract

The text presents a conceptual analysis of the emergence of the use of the salvia divinorum plant in the youtube culture. It compares ancient and modern enunciation places about similar psychological experiences to those accompanying “ojos de la pastora” – as mazatecas from Oaxaca (Mexico) say. It supports that the entheogenic experience with this plant is of Dionysian character and opens the practice of the divination ritual when it is carried out in cultural contexts in which the educational system is relative to the ancestral character of the experience. The questioning about the relationships established presently between salvia divinorum and the youtube culture, and the psychological state which emerges from the individual’s psychological death into the Dionysian totality remains.
