Abstract
This article analyzes the micro-geopolitics of terror in the peripheries of Cartagena de Indias, exploring how insecurity, addictions, and criminality configure complex social dynamics in a context of urban marginality. Based on an ethnographic approach, the study examines the tensions between illegal economies, such as drug trafficking, and community control initiatives led by local actors like La Cívica. The text first discusses the impact of drug trafficking and gang conflicts on the social fabric; second, it delves into community-driven surveillance and resistance strategies; and finally, it evaluates the implications of state absence in shaping these territories. The findings underscore the coexistence of structural violence and social resistance, highlighting the need to understand the interactions between criminality and everyday life in marginalized urban areas.
