Abstract

This article analyzes category of vernacular knowledge within the sociometabolic relationship between community and water in Teotitlán del Valle to deepen in the understanding of the kosmos within the corpus and praxis complex (k-c-p) of the ethnoecological perspective. A critical analysis of four areas of opportunity of the concepts and methods of the k-c-p complex and its approach to traditional knowledge was carried out. The methodological design consisted of participant observation of the festivities, ritual ceremonies and daily activities of the community, comprehensive interviews with key community subjects in the relationship, and a participatory workshop with the drinking water committee. The community forms an organizational network with nodes and groups that carry out the relationship according to the use value and the social spaces of the community. The drinking water committee is one of the central groups to continue the relationship and its meaning: sharing water with human and non-human beings. They carry out work, ritual ceremonies and have a social code with which they manage water for use and enjoyment. There is a co-production between the community and water with which the subject is built through the transformation of nature, and vice versa.
