Manizales y Villamaría: Un hecho social - metropolitano determinado por el espacio

Abstract

The Municipalities of Manizales and Villamaría of the Department of Caldas are part of a geographic and sociological organization of vicinity with own characteristics of great city or metropolis that it requires of a legal organization - administrative. The conformation of a metropolitan area has been one of the proposals strategic to give answer to the conurbación phenomenon that present/display the two localities. Although, some deficiencies persist in the handling of the figure «nonsingle Metropolitan Area» in Colombia but in other countries of the world, it is certain that this figure, returns to be a central idea of the urban planning - regional. The competitiveness of the metropolitan area depends on the social contribution that can make to the organizing quality of its own economic weave and with views to fortify the industrial systems - that must operate in network in innovating surroundings. It is a territorial axis that is going to allow to develop a territory effectively occupied from the point of view of the social fairness and the environmental sustainability. However, the previous thing, the class leader (political) of the Municipality of Villamaría systematically has been opposed the formalization of this zone as strategic territory but the dynamics of the contemporary reality forces to reopen the debate and forces to change of vision to the subject as opposed to. The answers of the citizenship and a high percentage of the political and social leadership demonstrate to this tendency of opening and will that opens the possibilities for the metropolitan integrating construction of Manizales and Villamaría.
