Abstract
During the year of 1999 was accomplished a study of cases and controls, with a sample of 15 persons, attended by Colon Cancer in the Institute of the Social Security of Manizales during the period understood between January of 1997 until April of 1999 and a group control of 30 persons that they were not presenting pathologies of the tract gastric. This in order to explore the nutritional risk factors that they could influence the appearance of the Colon Cancer. The compilation of the information was made through a survey on nutritional habits that was evaluating the variable fats, spices, meats, nitrates, alcoholic beverages, fiber and vitamins. The obtained data were quantified and averaged for after be analyzed in the program Epilnfo 6. The obtained results determined as risk factors for the Colon Cancer mainly the high consumption by followed alcoholic beverages of the of fats, meats and nitrates. And as protective factors the vitamins and fiber consumption.
