Abstract
Objective. To analyze the socio-psychological manifestations of compulsive consumption of bazuco in the inhabitants of the Hernán Mejía Mejía Foundation in the city of Armenia, Quindío, Colombia. Methodology. Qualitative research with an ethnographic paradigm. Results. Among the people consuming bazuco not all do it in a compulsive way. Two socio-psychological manifestations of the character were identified: the consumer experience and the consumer compulsion, which are characterized for having self-care as a reference, being important material in the reduction of damage as a theoretical and practical approach and towards a better group coexistence. Conclusions. The Hernán Mejía Mejía Foundation is a highly valued place by the subjects investigated since they see it as a family place, and as a space where a primary socio-psychological impact is achieved for compulsive bazuco consumers.
