Abstract
Objetive. Analyze the recovery program of the twelve steps as a practice to resolve life conflicts and serious physical health problems. Methodology. The reading of The Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, the testimonies and reflections of people in rehabilitation centers will be used as sources, the work of experiencing the twelve steps under the new concept of the Patient Medical Model, proposed by the author, as well as discussions of the validity of this model with members of groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Neurotic Anonymous, Anonymous Families and Narcotics Anonymous. Results and conclusions. It is concluded that the models used up to now, to promote the awakening of the conscience and the responsibility of those who are in recovery process, have given evident results, although not enough.
