Abstract

The article aims to highlight the importance of theater direction in, teaching performing arts from the particular perspective of the author, based on her experience as an artist and a teacher. The scope of work is determined by her experience as a director and a dramatist in a number of works in which her vision of gender predominates, in contrast to topics related to different forms of violence that happen in Colombia. Methodologically, the author presents a particular social problem and narrates the transit made toward different plays she has written and produced, As a conclusion the author presents the social commitment of theater and the contribution it could give to the construction of meaning within a society.
