Abstract
ABSTRACT: Subsolar abscesses in equines are accidents observed frequently in the clinical practice. In general, they are produced by sharp foreign bodies that transport microorganisms to the chorion. When the wound involves a synovial structure like the foot joint, the podo trochlear bursa or the deep flexor tendon sack, there is a guarded prognosis. On the other hand, it is not common to diagnose cases of double sole in this species. This condition is well described in bovines, and it is uses to be a consequence of laminitis. The aim of this report is to describe the treatment and the evolution of an equine patient that presented a subsolar abscess concomitant with double sole.
