Abstract

Objective: To interpret the narratives derived from the experiences of the use of free and leisure time in families of the Colombo-British School. Methodology: The research approach was qualitative. The participants were parents, teachers and directors of the institution. Results: Free time, leisure and education are interdependent and generate creativity environments based on experiences of pleasure. Free and leisure time in families is related to care and health. This produces feelings of attachment and socio-familial bonding. Conclusion: Free and leisure time are two concepts linked and integrated. The former is broader and contains the latter. Free time is the time people have available, in which they do not carry out work activities, educational responsibilities or domestic chores. Leisure time is the time focused on creating, having fun building something for one's own pleasure or to enjoy an activity that generates pleasure.
