Abstract

This essay deals with the Lesser Evil's Doctrine, in the version defended by Michael Ignatieff. In order to carry out this analysis, the first part describes such doctrine showing its relevance at times of the fight against terrorism, as well as explaining the reason for its popularity. The second part evaluates Ignatieff's philosophical assumptions in which he defends the Lesser Evil's Doctrine. Finally, in the third and last part, such doctrine is rejected by stressing that it is sustained on fallacies, in addition to being ethical and politically untenable.
