Conocimientos sobre planes de evacuación por parte de los empleados públicos de la sede central de la Universidad de Caldas durante el período 2004.

Abstract

A descriptive study showing the level of knowledge that the public employees of the Central Administrative  Building of the Universidad de Caldas had on the evacuation plans during 2004.  The Universidad de Caldas is a public institution, where there are many people, that is why the necessity arose for the employees to be  prepared in handling any risk situation. The public employees were characterized social— demographically,  and the level of knowledge and practices that they had on evacuation plans were evaluated. A structured  survey was administered to a sample of sixty- four employees. The results showed that the higher the  schooling level the more knowledge the employees had on evacuation plans. There are many employees that do not know how to use a fire extinguisher. Additionally, more than half of the employees have not received  training on evacuation plans, but most of them would act correctly in case of a bomb, fire and earthquake.
