Abstract
The genus Magathecla ROBBINS, 2002 (an unethical replacement of Gulliveria BALINT, 2002) is reviewed. It is demonstrated thatthe taxon Papilio cupentus STOLL (1780), associated with Megathecla by ROBBIN cannot be considered as a sister-species of Thecla gigantea HEWITSON (1867), the type species of Gullicaena. lt is placed in a new, monobasic genus Cupathecla BALINT gen. n. Thereus wojtusiaki BALINT, sp. n. is described, to demonstrate that the iridescent “chalky blue” wing dorsum is not an exclusive character of “Megathecla”.
