Abstract
During the taxonomic marathon of biodiversity, which took place in the Resguardo de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria de la Montaña, the characterization of the flying fauna, as well, as an identification and prioritization of the conservational objects in the area between july 15 and july 19 2004 took place. ln order to identify the bird species of this zone, different routes along the edge of the forest and in its interior, were carried out using three different and complementary methods.One-hundred nine (109) bird species were identified during the four-day sampling; á number that could possibly increase of visits are carried out during the less rainy time of the year or during migration periods. The tanagers, flycatchers, antpittas, new world warblers, hummingbirds, sparrows and ovenbirds were the families with the most species identified. Among these, two species are in urgent need of conservation, one specie in need of conservation, ten species with a medium priority of conservation, four species with a high priority of investigation, nineteen species with a medium priority of investigation, twenty-seven species with a high sensibility, forty-three species with a medium sensibility, two endemic species, five almost endemic species, one specie in the Appendice 1 CITES and eleven species in the Appendice II CITES. According to the Red Book of Birds in Colombia, 1 species has been catalogued as being in critical danger, another as being endangered, 3 vulnerable species and 3 almost endangered species. According to theInternational Union for the Conservation of Nature, 1 species is in critical danger,1 endangered species, 3 vulnerablke species and 2 almost endangered species. Four species with restricted range, 2 highly extracted species, 6 rarely extracted species, 1 specie with a high loss of habitat, 4 species with a medium loss of habitat and 3.
