Abstract

The concept of Dynamic Body Actions summarizes the findings of the doctoral research author about the presence of the Principle of Balance Alteration in the context of European Modern Theatre. The search for possible relationships between the Balance Principle and a group of prominent traditions such as Stanislavski, Meyerhold, Laban, Decroux, Lecoq and Grotowski’s, allow establishing that there is a number of transverse elements that define a type of peculiar action led by the presence of the body on stage around the twentieth century scenic body work, this is to say, the dynamic conditions of balance, the body as a segmentation and displacement tool and the the construction of the stage action which is based on Stanislavskin’s physical action.

The methodology used in the preparation of this article includes a comprehensive theoretical tour of the performing traditions that formed the body of the doctoral research and its subsequent application as an experimental methodology in the body related subjects of the first three semesters of the undergraduate Performing Arts program at Universidad de Caldas. The conclusions lead to the reflection presented in this paper, the systematization of specific didactics for scenic body practice that emerged from the classroom work that are currently being grouped in an interactive consultation platform belonging to the research project “ Dynamic Body Actions II” directed by the author of the article in association with some of the Visual Design Department
professors.
