Abstract
The article takes a critical look at the International Manizales Theatre Festival on his 50th birthday. It seeks to develop some points of view that cover the festival’s relationship with the city, with the University of Caldas, with local and national groups, as well as the personal link of the author of the article with this theatrical event. It is a reflection that seeks to explore a taboo subject in the cultural environment of the city, where only the cultural effect of the event in the region can be praised or exalted, and where there is an implicit prohibition on the media and people to broadcast any kind of criticism that could affect a festival that apparently persists as a miracle in the region.
