Abstract

ABSTRACT: Canine lymphoma has been a useful animal model for non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas in humans. Five cases of malignant lymphoma (lymphosarcoma) in dogs that died due to illness are accounted for in this study. The cases were immuno-labeled using monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies against surface antigens of T and B Lymphoid cells in order to attempt the neoplasias classification and to establish prognostic parameters around this cellular characteristic. Two cases were classified as originating from T cells and no one in the B cells. The possibility of using immunohistochemistry in future cases where prognostic criteria and treatment in patients affected by canine lymphoma can be established is discussed.
