Abstract

ABSTRACT: The use of osteosynthesis plates made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) was clinically and radiologically described. These were placed in the tibia of six canines and withdrawn after 8 weeks. None of the animals presented clinical or radiological alterations. After eight weeks the material did not show any signs that demonstrated the presence of acute or chronic inflammation in adjacent soft tissues, nor in the periosteal plate interface.
