Resumen

RESUMO: A nutrição é um fator de extrema importância na capacidade de manutenção das funções metabólicas do organismo, como no processo reprodutivo, via secreção hormonal, de fatores de crescimento e de constituintes bioquímicos. A suplementação de lipídios pode ser uma estratégia efetiva para aumentar a densidade energética da dieta de fêmeas ruminantes. Com isto, pode-se engrandecer a síntese hormonal, inclusive a esteroidogênese folicular e luteal, e de prostaglandinas, via inibição de enzimas que atuam na conversão do ácido araquidônico, além de potencializar as ações de fatores de crescimento, especialmente o IGF-1, e o fornecimento de nutrientes para todos os eventos da foliculogênese ovariana.
