Abstract
Potentially, Anadara grandis could be a marketable food clam in the Pacific coast of Colombia. In order to determining basic aspects of the reproductive biology of this species. a sample of 24 individuals in a representative rank of shell length of the population was analyzed. From this sample sex, and sex ratio was determined, resulting an average sex ratio of 1/1. Using histologic sections and macroscopic observations, the anatomical relations of the gonadal region with other structures were determined, showing a fussed structure between visceral mass, pedal muscle and gonadal region, which was divided in lateral sections of the body. The morphology ol sexual products was studied using microscopic observations, and cell length averages were estimated. From sections of the soft body, a quantitative approach for the study of the reproductive cycle of this species was proposed.
