Resumen
La familia Rhipiceridae es un grupo de coleópteros poco conocido en la región neotropical, con escasos registros documentados en Sudamérica. Hasta el momento, no existían reportes formales de esta familia en el Perú, lo cual representa un vacío significativo en el conocimiento de la biodiversidad del país. En este estudio se describe una nueva especie, Sandalus cuscoensis Yábar-Landa y Bustamante-Navarrete (Rhipiceridae: Coleoptera), procedente del sureste del Perú, que constituye el primer registro documentado de la familia en el territorio nacional. Asimismo, se incorporan observaciones adicionales de Rhipiceridae provenientes de la plataforma de ciencia ciudadana iNaturalist, cuyos datos verificados se integran en el Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). La combinación de datos taxonómicos y de ciencia ciudadana permite ampliar el conocimiento sobre la distribución y ecología de la familia en la región. Finalmente, se discuten aspectos ecológicos y biogeográficos de los Rhipiceridae en el Perú, destacando la relevancia de este hallazgo para la documentación, investigación y conservación de la biodiversidad entomológica del país.
